The BEM Lab team recently participated in the prestigious 9th International Barcode of Life Conference, held from September 3rd to 6th, 2024, in Belém, Pará, Brazil. This event marked a significant reunion of the global community at the forefront of DNA technologies for biodiversity after a five-year hiatus.
The conference, organized by the iBOL Consortium in collaboration with the Vale Institute of Technology, gathered leading scientists, policymakers, and conservation experts to discuss the latest advancements in DNA barcoding and metabarcoding for species identification. The discussions emphasized the profound implications of these technologies for biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices worldwide.
Attending this conference in the vibrant Amazonian port city of Belém was an invaluable opportunity for BEM Lab to exchange insights, share our research, and connect with international collaborators. We are excited to bring back innovative ideas and strengthen our commitment to advancing marine biodiversity research and conservation efforts.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to integrate these groundbreaking developments into our work at BEM Lab!
