Biography
Karla was born in Celaya, a small city in central Mexico, where her early fascination with nature led her to pursue a career in biology, she moved to Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific coast, where she graduated with honors.
After completing her undergraduate studies, Karla gained valuable experience in environmental impact assessment, working with various companies in the Mexican Caribbean and contributing to initiatives with NGOs. In 2019, she started her journey in Saudi Arabia to pursue a Master's degree in Marine Science. Since then, she has been actively involved in significant projects, collaborating with giga projects such as Red Sea Global and NEOM. Karla also served as a technical data coordinator for KCRI (KAUST coral restoration initiative).
Research Interests
Karla focuses on analyzing benthos photoquads to conduct comprehensive studies on marine biodiversity changes, integrating different techniques. She also utilizes photogrammetry to create 3D models of reefs and artificial structures incorporated into reef systems.
